Sorry that I haven't posted anything on this page in ages. My time has been pretty taken up with working during the summer and starting back at school in the Fall. Now I am knee-deep in Mid-term exams, so it seems like blogging will have to wait another week or two.
But as usual, my mind is filled with tons of crazy thoughts for the blog:
1. The Chanel No. 5 commercial (more like short-film) directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring his muse Nicole Kidman. If you're a movie buff, you'll know that he directed her to high acclaim in the visual feast that was "Moulin Rouge." Baz is a creative genius and his film for Chanel is agonizingly beautiful.

2. A Tribute to Valentino. Valentino Garavani is retiring after a 45 year career as fashion's chief arbiter of feminine elegance and beauty. He has dressed all the greats, from Jackie O. and Audrey Hepburn to Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts. The man is a fashion god. His comment sums up why I worship him so much :
"I have been lucky to have turned my teenage passion into my work ... and to retain my own style, despite the big changes in the world of fashion."
A tribute is therefore very fitting, no?.

3. A Tribute to Grace Kelly. The 25 year anniversary of her death has just passed. Her style was so profound that she transcended mere fashion and therefore took her place in history among the great icons of our time. I started to read her biography some years back, but I got sidetracked by other things and didn't finish it. It's a shame, as the more I read about her life, the more I became intrigued by the humanity behind the glossy image. In my opinion, it is this that makes her an enduring icon. I'd like to examine what made her so timeless, and to show that she has as great an influence on fashion today as she did three decades ago.
4. The Real Style Mavens. I've had enough of so-called fashion experts on TV and in print voicing their erroneous and moronic opinions on who are the current 'fashionistas.' These people wouldn't know style if it hit them with 18 wheel-semi...even if it backed up and tried again, they would still be clueless. I will sound off once and for all on who are the Real Fashionistas of today and explain my reasoning.
